I kept pulling cards after that. Not every day, and not because I thought they were magic. More because they had this way of naming things I'd been circling around but couldn't quite say out loud. That felt useful. I wanted more of it.

A few years in, I got curious about astrology — not the daily column kind, but the real mechanics of it. Then the Mayan calendar, which I came across almost by accident and ended up finding surprisingly precise. These three systems don't always point in the same direction, and I've come to think that's part of what makes them worth using.
